Self-Advocacy

Self-Advocacy plays an integral part in the operational framework of Community Interactions. A general Quality Enhancement meeting is convened on the same day following the Self-Advocacy Committee, which meets on the first Wednesday at 4:00PM of each month. These regular meetings have an average attendance of 35 persons. Participation helps Self-Advocates to develop good leadership skills and to explore opportunities through self-directed services. It also give the consumers the opportunity to participate in the policy and decision-making process, while offering training to direct support staff.

The Quality Enhancement group meeting is held the first Wednesday of each month beginning at 5:30 pm at the Swarthmore office of Community Interactions. The meeting provides training in leadership and personal development as well as recreational opportunities to people with disabilities whether or not they are supported by Community Interactions. This group welcomes people from the general community at a small charge if the individual is not supported through a Community Interactions' residential or day service. Please contact Christopher Lynn at (610) 328-9008 extension 138 for more information on these meetings. All are welcome!

Groups meet in both Pennsylvania and Delaware.
